Right. You basically propose an opt-out of a new feature (which *could* break work flows), I propose an opt-in. IMO the opt-out would have the disadvantage that all the major modes on *ELPA or elsewhere would not be covered. If we go for the opt-out, probably the NEWS entry for command `prog-fill-reindent-defun' should be updated to mention that M-q could be rebound to `fill-paragraph' should the new command not have the desired effect? Or does that go without saying?
