Is that text editor by any chance called notepad or something
similar? In that case you should find the executable file
called notepad.exe somewere on your harddisk and delete this
file. notepad.exe is actually an evil virus on all Windows
computers, and is developed by a software company in Redmond.

You should then visit one of these web-sites:

To be honest, notepad does not understand the difference
of unix line ends and dos style lane endings. Therefore
you will probably get all the text in one line and some
squares where you're supposed to have line breaks.
