Yes, but /home/pub/... is public, so anybody can install everything. So if I
put it in front I get all the crap and broken things, too, not to mention
security problems. I've had problems with badly installed packages already.

As I wrote in my other post, I've made symlinks in $HOME/lib and put this in
front of the path.
Thanks for the tip with $PKG_CONFIG_PATH. I didn't know this variable yet.
