I don't know if I understand your question,
but this is how I add a new design (user design).
Once I'm pleased with the setup, I go to the Design tab (settings /
appearance)
I click on 'Add current design' (and enter name and author)
Then: 'Save designs'
To change an existing design (user design)
settings / appearance tab Design
I select the design I want to change and click OK
again settings / appearance
changing all I want to change
last thing: tab settings
Add current design (and enter new name and author)
Save designs (this one will come at the bottom of the list)
I select the old design and click
Remove design
Save designs
OK
