Since GNUBg main goal is to become a better player (at least, that's my
idea), a 'hint' button would be very welcome.

And when a user has the main window active, either he/she wants to do
something special (and uses the menu or Open Command), or he/she wants to
play/watch a game.
So a '?' would be appropriate for 'Hint', because the question mark (help)
indeed reflects the thoughts of the user: "What to do here?"

But if there could be confusion with 'help' as 'Please help me how to play,
how to move, how to....', then I think an exclamation point would be more
appropriate. And yes: the user is asking 'What do you think of this GNUBg?
Give me a clue!'.

So:
I second the lightbulb, with a question mark as close second.
