"chequer" may be very special, but what about "analyse" vs "analyze" and
"colour" vs "color"?

Well, I guess that those who contribute to the documentation decides,
and I reckon we'll have to live with some inconsistencies from one
chapter to another. I don't think we should enforce that the British
contributors write "analyze" or vice versa that American contributors
should write "analyse".
