You're right, I've changed the code so it works for gtk 1.* and 2.*, the 
gnubg.gtkrc file needs slight editing though (you need to un-comment the 
gtk2 font lines for gtk2).

I also changed the colouring order so setting the cube and chequer 
styles to the same values should work correctly.
