Threads are only implemented for analysis and rollouts. It is possible that we could start individual threads for each move candidate to be evaluated at 4 ply, but it hasn't been a priority yet since GNU backgammon is already an excellent player on 2 ply and nobody really knows how much better 4 ply would be.

I try to use option "set thread x" and I didn't see any diffrents in  speed of computing. For example I write

set threads 2
new game
set board AQAADAAAAAAAAA
set turn gnubg
set player gnubg chequerplay evaluation plies 4
set dice 3 6
play
show board

and I have this same time of execute when I run with options
new game
set board AQAADAAAAAAAAA
set turn gnubg
set player gnubg chequerplay evaluation plies 4
set dice 3 6
play
show board

So what is going on ?
