GNU Backgammon will resign if the chances of winning a game are 100% (equity 1.000).
It will wave a white flag (3D) or show a white square (2D) with the number 1 (single game), 2 (gammon) or 3 (backgammon).

But even with the smallest chance of winning (99.99%) it will not resign.

Hi All,

I’m very much curious to know if GNU will ever resign a game/match in case when it’s no any theoretical chance to win. /meaning that this chance is exactly equal to 0 (zero)%/

Just some examples:

1. Snowie never ever resigns. (So- too arrogant)

2. BGBlitz sometimes resigns, even when it’s still a slim chance to win. (So- a bit coward)

3. eXtremeGammon gives this answer on this question, quote:

XG will resign in the following case

·         Equity is less than 0.0005 than the resign value (so less than 99.975% to win or save the gammon)

·         The opponent has more than 2 checkers left

·         In case the bot is losing a single game it does not resign if the opponent can double and cash.

If the player refuses the resignation XG will not resign again for this game.”

Regards, and please let me know…
