Thanks motiv4u for your useful answer. Thanks again as well to Philippe Michel and Ian Shaw - you all offer a lot of useful explanations and material to study.
 
By the way, aided by the rather "ragged" automatic Google translation into English, I did understand precisely most of the material in the Danish paper referred to by Philippe about EPC and the approximate formula, admittadly except for the "adjustments" to the formula. If anyone (Danish or else) succeeded in understanding that bit too - I'd be glad to be informed.
