If you want to make changes to the program, as I read question, the answer is "yes". You can follow the instructions on www.gnubg.org, and get the source code files and make changes to the program. If you think it's useful changes, please contribute them back to the project. The software is distributed under the GNU General Public License, and there are some limitations for changes of the system.
