Hi Thomas,

I'm the maintainer of the Debian gnubg package, but I'm afraid I have no
idea what could be causing this for you or how it could happen.  This
certainly isn't intentional, and the gnubg package does not do this for
me.  I have the gnubg package installed on multiple computers, and I've
never seen this behavior.

One thing you could check is to see if you have a .mailcap in your home
directory that may have incorrect entries, or possibly your /etc/mailcap
file.  Modern systems should mostly be using the new FDE files, though,
and I'm not sure how they could get overridden in this way.  The only
configuration file that gnubg installs is a normal desktop entry file that
makes it appear in the system application menus.
