I realized that I missed to press reply all to the previous mail, so I cc’d

bug-gnubg@gnu.org’ here in the mail loop just in case!

@Philippe, I only need to compile ‘a command-line only gnubg’ btw.. I hope you can guide me a way out  😊

Thank you all!

Cheers,

Cihan

Oh! I think the page you found there is very old. I think the date is 031023 which translates to 23rd of October 2003.

It seems like the error you now get is due to missing GTK.

I now think it is version 3 of GTK that is used in the GNU Backgammon builds (someone correct me if I'm wrong, and if I'm right, what has to be fixed before we can do GTK4?)

How to install and make this work is a bit of unknown territory for me. However, someone does indeed build the Windows executables.

Is that Philippe?

Maybe Philippe has a few tricks up his sleeve.

I followed these steps:

  • I extracted source ‘gnubg-release-1.06.002-sources.tar’ file.
  • I downloaded MakeConfig.exe file in http://www.gnubg.org/win32/gnubg_new_build.html
  • I ran MakeConfig.exe and copied all extracted files into the gnubg source directory
  • I modified ‘MakefileOld’ file as below to remove libevent target
  • I ran  ‘gnubgOld.bat’

Is there anything wrong I did there? I unfortunately couldn’t follow each step in ‘http://www.gnubg.org/win32/gnubg_new_build.html

As most hyperlinks seem not working: e.g. Installation archive (http://home.online.no/~oeysteij/) or packages.zip (http://www.gnubg.org/win32/packages.zip)

Thank youuuuu! 😊

Strange that you got this error. Without looking further into it, I actually believe that libevent is not needed in GNU Backgammon. Can you remove the target from the make file and see if you get a link error.
