the regex module came from GNU libc, glibc.  I guess that project is
part of the Translation project.

I believe that the Translation project contains one common translation
pool, which should include messages from coreutils and from glibc.

The translations from that memory should go smoothly to the translation
of your project.

Yes, there is some redundancy, but I believe it doesn't present any
significant extra work for the translators.
