It was supposed to be over. ;-)
I corrected a naming mistake: When you have a safe and slow variant and an
unsafe and fast variant of the same code, the default one should be the safe
and slow one - because safety is more important than speed. gettext's testsuite
failed because I had made the opposite choice earlier.
