Looks like the right approach to me.  If we were also outputting the sed
expression, then using something like a heredoc to strip leading
whitespace would be nice; but since we are only using using it as an
argument to sed, I see no reason to post-process (and possibly break) a
working sed expression.  Go ahead and commit.
