None of that, but I did find a problem with the build environment
after I tried the same build steps on another OpenLinux 3.1.1 box.
Sorry about that.

I got the build environment fixed now.

$ grep -i bool lib/config.h

/* #undef HAVE__BOOL */
....

Builds fine but "make check" bombs.
