Hi!

The sc_copyright_check in maint.mk won't handle a copyright notice
spanning multiple lines. For wdiff I'll likely disable that check for
this reason, since keeping 9 years in a single copyright line for the
texi file doesn't agree with my own ideas of readable sources.

It would be great if you could come up with some solution which does
that check but takes copyright lines spanning multiple lines into
account. Probably a perl script, I guess.

I dimly remember some discussion about perl for syntax checks:

Did anything ever come out of this? Doesn't look that way to me, but I
don't closely follow the list.
