Test suite failures on hppa2.0w-hp-hpux11.11

I am now able to build the testdir package without error on this HP-UX
system, but "make check" turns up a few failed tests. They are listed
below, along with any associated preceding text:

(Note: The test-nonblocking-socket.sh test hung and had to be killed
manually in order to complete the test suite.)
