This is in a different directory than the source and build directory of m4.
We can't help you debug arbitrary code / scripts / Makefiles that you happen to
have on your disk. For a proper bug report
  1. show the arguments, input files, and result of a SINGLE m4 invocation,
  2. direct the bug report to the proper mailing list, which you get by
     invoking 'm4 --help'.
