I thought everything was working fine - and definitely gnustep-make and
gnustep-base.  Are you using the Apple runtime perhaps ?  That might be a
problem.

Otherwise - which system are you using ?
What gnustep-* versions are you using ?
What `troubles' exactly do you have ?  
Can you send us the error messages ?
