Your patch doesn't work because it assume the input file is in Unicode encoding,
which may not be true. The input file can be unicode or local encoding. The original code can read the input file correctly, but write it in oEnc, which is Unicode.People use "-EscapeIn yes" in order to get the property list in local encoding.
