I've thought about this, but I can't see any reason why compiling the 
software with debugging information would trigger this problem. This 
code involves kernel interface and or (mis)interpretation of program 
arguments, so I'm not sure how that could be affected. Does anyone else 
have any ideas?

Perhaps we could but some NSDebugLLog calls in to help people trace 
this problem more precisely?
