It's blatantly false for a huge number of methods. While I can see that it would be useful in someodd cases, the huge number of exceptions would make it difficult to relyon.
Agreed ... this is not a rule that holds on MacOS-X, and it's not even implied
in any of the documentation I know of. It's definitely not required for 'correct' memory management.
