Thank you. The menu weirdness is gone now and working for my version of KDE
(3.3.1). There are other weirdness, but more bareable. I'll report it if I
isolate them (if you want to take a look, try running Gorm on KDE, and you'll
see, probably only on the 3.3 series or 3.3.1).
Thank you again, thank you!

Summary: Problems with KDE

Original Submission: I'm putting this bug into Backend because I was told in
#gnustep@irc.freenode.net that this bug was in back.
I'm using GNUstep apps on KDE, but I have a problem working with the menus that
pop up together with an application (normally on the top-left of the screen).
The problem is that when I click an item to open the submenu, two bad things
happen:
1) It is marked as a new window on the taskbar, which leads me to have lots of
windows appearing and disappearing in the taskbar, that's not nice.
2) It is open in background, so I have to go the taskbar and click on the item
for it, to bring it to from, which makes working with the menus about 10 times
slower.

There's also other similar problems, for example (I'm very new to GNUstep), I
open Gorm and it opens one menu, two windows, and that big icon on the desktop.
The two windows are on the taskbar. I create a new application and that opens
two more windows, so for Gorm, I now have four items in the taskbar, when I
switch to another application, the initial two windows disappear from my screen
and from the taskbar. When doing rapid switching, the taskbar blinks and blinks
and it's crazy.
Also, when all I have of an application is the big icon on the desktop, double
clicking it only brings it back if there's no other non-minimized application
on that desktop.

In the channel #kde-devel@irc.freenode.net I was told that kwin (KDE's window
manager) is netwm compliant.

Thanks.

This should be corrected in CVS now.

The problem here was that the code we had in place was specifically there for
an old version of KDE. The current KDE seems to treat the EWMH settings
correctly. I tried the new code with KDE, Gnome, WindowMaker and FVWM and it
seems to work with all of them. (FVWM now draws borders around all windows,
even menus, not sure if this used to be different)

I left the old code in place, you may reactiate it with the define
USE_KDE_OVERRIDE.
