Follow-up Comment #3, bug #12478 (project gnustep):
Today I tried with backend using xlib/x11 and all apps I tried work
on a 8-bit Xnc server.
The error "Unrecognized color masks" is from blit.m in art backend, so a
workaround is to avoid using art backend when display does not have 32, 24
or some 16 bit color information.
