Details:

Dear all,

I have updated my gnustep-make and gnustep-base installation (from source) on
a Fedora Core 4 machine (2.6.11-1.1369_FC4). The new version is 1.11.2. (I
wish I new the old version number!)

Some of the changes in the makefile package caused broken directory settings
in the GNUSTEP_USER_ROOT variable. Strangely enough, in the bash environment
everything was fine (GNUSTEP_USER_ROOT=/hame/tamas/GNUstep), but during
compilation GNUSTEP_USER_ROOT=GNUstep.

I figured that the during compilation the variable is set to the value of
GNUSTEP_USER_DIR, which is GNUstep.

As a workaround I have set GNUSTEP_USER_DIR=${HOME}/GNUstep in the
/etc/GNUstep/GNUstep.conf and now everything works fine. Still I thing there
was some original reason to set GNUSTEP_USER_DIR=GNUstep, but I cannot figure
it out. To be honest, the makefile package is a bit complex for me to
understand without documentation... :)

Tamas
