[bug #22410] Apps segfault on a second display

Follow-up Comment #4:

As it turned out I was able to reproduce the same error even with just one
monitor, by switching of the special handling for the default screen.
I corrected the code in SVN and made sure we will all get any future error
here by removing the special handling.
