GNUMail 1.2.0pre3 hasn't been updated to work with GNUstep make 2.0 yet,
so it sticks the preferences bundles in the wrong spot. Grab one of the
"nightly builds" tarballs (from the bottom of the download page for
GNUMail), and use that instead. You should probably also use a nightly
build for Pantomime as well.
