Follow-up Comment #2, bug #23661 (project gnustep):
I checked on Ubuntu 8.04 with cairo 1.6.0 (It works as long as I don't use
ffcall). There the height of the same font looks the same for both backends.
There is a difference in the width of the menu though, not sure what is
causing this.
If I don't hear back from you I will be closing this bug report, as it
doesn't seem to be a GNUstep problem.
What we could try to do is scale down the font matrix with the screen
resolution for old cairo systems. Does this sound like something we should do?
