Details:

The summary basically says it all -- my application crashes on launch at
NSWorkspace.m line 634 when called by [NSWorkspace sharedWorkspace] which was
called from [NSDocumentController init]

Needless to say, this is a show-stopper for me! (running on Windows XP)
