It seems like libffi is not compiling on your version of darwin. You might try ./InstallGNUstep --ffi=ffcall to force compiliation of ffcall instead of libffi. Although if you are just interested in using gdl2, you probably don't need to compile gnustep-startup. gnustep-startup is meant to set up a complete GNUstep system on your computer, but on Mac OS X, all you really need are the extensions to the base library to use gdl2 - everything else comes with Mac OS X.
