Follow-up Comment #1, bug #29368 (project gnustep):
Gregory,
can you provide a practical example of what you are trying to do that you
can't do with the current setup ?
--
With regard to your second point, as discussed many times, if
GNUSTEP_SYSTEM_TOOLS is not in the PATH, then the GNUstep installation is
simply unusable. The fact that gnustep-config is not found is the least of
your problems - nothing belonging to GNUstep will ever be found. Do we want
to move gnustep-config into /usr/bin/ to make sure it is found ? In which
case, what about all the other tools in GNUSTEP_SYSTEM_TOOLS (eg, gdomap,
gdnc, tools to create service plists, to merge them, applications, etc) ?
Shouldn't we move them into /usr/bin/ too to make sure they are found too ?
If adding GNUSTEP_SYSTEM_TOOLS to the PATH is too burdensome for end-users,
we should make FHS the default layout. :-)
If you install stuff using the GNUstep layout, you'll have to add
GNUSTEP_SYSTEM_TOOLS to the PATH for things to work. There's nothing we can
do about that.
Thanks
