I was able to reproduce this behaviour for art and xlib, but for cairo this
is working correctly.
For these two backends I made a quick fix. Not the fastest code, but pattern
drawing is implemented slowly anyway.
Could you please give it a try? And if the problem persists for the cairo
backend, could you please report the version of cairo you are using?
