I changed the title of this bug.

Fred: it may be stored awkwardly, but this is certainly a bug in XIB loading,
and in my experience a critical one as I use this feature in any non-trivial
xib/nib. I made one attempt a few months ago at reading the flattendProperties
dictionary but couldn't get it to work.
