I get: $ defaults read C:\gnustepdev\GNUstep\System\Tools\defaults.exe: Uncaught exception NSGenericExc eption, reason: Unable to get attributes of lock file we made This bug was introduced somewhere between revisions 35389:35392 (most likely in NSFileManager.m).
