No it's not related to dual cores.  The machine I test on is a 3GHz Dual Core Machine and I have no problems at all.

I've updated to the latest in SVN, and I don't see this.  I'm not sure why it's not working for you.

Can you tell me how you installed GNUstep?  From packages or from source?

Could it be related to 2 cores? I will test single if you think it
makes a difference.
