problem with tables

Under SunOS 5.8,

when using groff or gtroff with gtbl,

trying to produce a table with the .TS/.TE macros,

I get the table but proceeded by a line

n.TS

and followed by

n.xy

where n is an integer and .xy is the next ms macro

This problem does not occur with ditroff or with Sun - supplied troff--
