Hi,

Gene Myers, a Berkeley computer science professor here. I have a new Powerbook
G4 with groff 1.17.2 installed. When I run the attached file small.n with
"groff -ms -e small.n >foo.ps" I get:

small.n:5: warning: can't break line
small.n:5: warning: can't break line
small.n:5: warning: can't break line
small.n:5: warning: can't break line

I tried installing 1.19 and basically got the same messages (just a little fancier, with the message telling which page and vertical height on the page.) I also attach the output of "eqn small.n >small.eqn" in case eqn is generating something funny on
only G4s (but the make of 1.19 went just fine).

I'd really appreciate any help you can give me, I have many old papers from the 80's that I won't be able to turn into postscript unless I can get eqn to work with
groff.

  Thanks,
       Gene Myers
