I did clone the git repository yesterday in an empty directory. automake and
autoconf have the newest upstream version. I called
$ ./bootstrap
$ ./configure
-> No warnings--all dependencies are installed
$ make
(IIRC I did the same a week ago on Slackware Linux which did work without
problems...)
