Follow-up Comment #1:

I noticed this, too, and it annoyed me.

I also someday want to ask Colin Watson if he'd accept a patch to man-db
establishing a flag there to pass options through to the *roff post-processor,
just like -P.  (Unfortunately, -P is already taken in the man option
namespace, and that namespace is _crowded_.)

That way, people would be able to drive grotty exactly how they want by
aliasing "man" to "man --post-processor-options=-i", for instance.
