Update of bug #59415 (project groff):
Severity: 3 - Normal => 1 - Wish
Status: None => Invalid
Open/Closed: Open => Closed

Follow-up Comment #1:
It is blatantly obvious that groff does not follow the recommendations of the
mandoc project for writing manual pages. There is a huge number of ways in
which groff manual pages are systematically and deliberately written in a way
that is clearly discouraged by the mandoc project.
Some of the suggestions of the mandoc project have been discussed and
rejected. Some have not been discussed. Many are of minor importance (in
particular of less importance than those explicitly rejected). While mandoc
-T lint *can* be used to detect syntactic and stylistic oversights in groff
documentation, that is tedious work because the main job is filtering out the
huge amount of messages that the groff project does *not* want to do anything
about.
Dumping mostly useless output that anybody interested can trivially generate
themselves is an unwelcome distraction.
