Sometimes easy, and sometimes not. Flags themselves are easily
modified, but the functions sometimes rely on the _context_ in which
they are executed.

The answer depends on the scope you presume. For the current GRUB
paradigm, this is necessary. For possible boot loader
implemenetations, this is not necessary.

Anyway, concentrate on the documenetation issue rather than random
ideas, at the moment. I don't want to consider any other than
requirements for 1.0 release at this stage.
