Just for fun, I tried putting timer.[ch] and eepro100.c from etherboot
5.1.0 into grub -- it compiled all right, but the machine I tried it on
halted with 'Probing...' on the display. As far as I can tell, the probe
routines changed completely in 5.1.0, and etherboot finally got a real
nanosecond timer instead of an uncalibrated delay loop. I'll try and see
whether I can cobble something together, knowing exactly zilch, zero,
nothing about device driver programming.
