Ah, I just learned that one can use a dumb terminal with grub!
But no, the slow menu that I see every morning is on my VGA and a Duron.
But it takes some 1/10 secs to finish showing up. This is too slow for
writing into VGA-memory. Whats the reason for beeing so slow? - just
interested.
