Even though I have been on the list for less than a week, I can comment
on this by saying that part of the list's is to act as a general inquiry
list from the website; hence the setting is reply to sender rather than
reply to list. 

Accepting external messages is a vital part of the list's intended
function. I joined because I need to develop an operating system and
want to get an insider's view of the project.
