problems setting up netboot

Hi,
I followed the directions for configuring grub-0.90 for network booting as
indicated in netboot directory (configure --enable-eepro, make make
install).  However, when I list the available commands at the grub command
line all network commands (such as ifconfig and dhcp) are not present.  Did
I not understand the help pages or did I omit a step or two ?  Any advise
would be greatly appreciated.
