Re: GRUB GRUB GRUB etc

another piece of info, this may shed some light on the situation:

I just installed LILO, and set it up and boot it.

This is what I get now, when i boot:

L 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 etc.....

There is alot more google content regarding this error than the "GRUB
GRUB GRUB" error. Unfortunately alot of the talk about this error is
way over my head. But there is one message on google groups that has
"GRUB GRUB GRUB" and "L 02 02 02"... maybe this will help.

Kind of confusing, because this is a pretty modern machine, dont know
why im having so much trouble.

Now that i've installed lilo, I think i will have to uninstall it
(emerge unmerge) before i can try the grub-install. I will give it a
try tomorrow, i have been fighting with this for many hrs and now very
sleepy.

Thanks for your help and suggestions!

PS If the answer is that I need to chuck this HDD then that's FINE i'm
happy to do it, i just really need to get GNU/linux running on this
box!!

Thanks again,

Chris
