Thanks for your contribution. I've applied your patch to the CVS 
version.

As for your problem, I suspect that it might be just because your CDROM 
drive is assigned to hd31 (0xb1) and GRUB has a problem with dealing 
with this. So I will try to emulate the same situation using the grub 
shell, although I have no time at the moment to do this. I hope I will 
have little spare time very soon.
