Hello All,

I downloaded GRUB 2 version 1.95 and built it for my target system which
is a i686. I'm trying to install grub from an install script that
copies all of the files found in my /lib/grub/i386-pc directory onto my
target system /boot/grub directory.

When I reboot my target system, GRUB starts to load and then fails with
error 15.

If I copy these files from my Debian system onto my target
system /boot/grub directory, my target will boot up Linux just fine.
Hence, I have concluded that I must have these files in order to boot.

It seems like the files menu.lst, stage1, and stage2 should be included
in the GRUB source package. I realize stage1 and stage2 are binaries.
Why are they not built along with the rest of the GRUB binaries?

Any help appreciated.

Hello!
What you've downloaded is actually one of several GRUB2 kits. They
work considerably more different then the ones we discuss here. I
suggest you grab one of the older versions, that is of the legacy
ones, if that's what your more comfortable with.
